Before taking the exam, you must carefully study the following rules/guidelines. These will help you prepare for the exam.
Exam is available at any time
The exam is available at any time. There is no need to schedule a time slot for the exam.
Monitoring
The exam session will be monitored via ProctorExam – an online proctoring system. Please make sure to read the read the FAQs in order to best prepare for the exam.
Note: the ProctorExam tab must remain open the entire time you are taking your exam until you submit it, or the exam will not be recorded. We reserve the right to ask you to retake the exam if we do not have the recording of the exam session.
Essential items for the exam
For the exam, you should prepare the following:
- Computer with a camera, microphone and only one active monitor. In the case you have multiple monitors, please turn off all monitors except one.
- Fully charged mobile phone with a charger outlet close by.
- A room with no one else inside.
- Your identification document such as a passport, identification card, driver’s license, student card, or any other valid ID.
Prohibited actions during the exam
During the exam, you should NOT do or use the following:
- You may not have any notes or other methods that might help you during the exam.
- You may not have anyone helping you complete the exam.
- You may not use your phone except as a second camera angle as outlined by the proctoring service.
- You may not use translation software, e.g., Google Translate.
- You may not have any other tabs opened except for ProctorExam and the Advisera Course page, only to access the exam.
- You may not wear or use smart glasses.
- You may not use any external resources.
Most common reasons why students are flagged for cheating
The most common reasons for why students are flagged for cheating are:
- Not completing the room scan according to the exam requirements. To complete the room scan successfully, students must clearly show: (i) their computer and keyboard, (ii) their desk or workspace, (iii) the area underneath their desk, (iv) the ceiling, (v) a 360° view of the room, and (vi) their face and ears.
- Not positioning the phone camera according to the exam requirements. Students must place their phone beside them or diagonally next to them so that the camera clearly shows the student, their computer, monitor(s), and workspace.
- Using unauthorized external resources, such as an additional mobile device or a cheat sheet.
- Accessing the Advisera Courses page to view course materials during the exam.
- Using translation software, such as Google Translate, during the exam.
- Opening or accessing the text of the standard during the exam.
